The old laundry felt more like an outdoor shed than part of the house. Unlined face brick covered the walls, with electrical conduits running down them in plain view. An old concrete double tub stood on legs with its waste pipes exposed underneath, and a set of wall taps doubled as a spot to hang coat hangers. The floor was a patchwork of worn patterned tiles that had seen better days.
Storage was limited to a single open shelving unit on the wall, so detergents and everyday items had nowhere to go. There was no bench space for folding and no place to tuck the washing machine away. The space worked, but only just, and it did nothing for the rest of the home.

From Bare Brick to a Finished Room
The first step was turning the laundry into a room that feels like part of the house. Our team lined the walls and ceiling to cover the old brick and conduits, then finished them in crisp white. New oak-look plank flooring replaced the old patterned tiles, giving the space a warm, clean base that is easy to sweep and mop.
Storage From Floor to Ceiling
We designed the cabinetry to make the most of every wall. Tall white shaker-style cupboards at one end provide space for brooms, linen and bulk supplies, while overhead cabinets keep detergents and cleaning products within reach but out of sight. Brushed brass bar handles add a touch of warmth and tie in with the tapware. With dedicated storage and a practical folding station, the laundry now stays organised instead of cluttered.
A Long Benchtop for Folding and Sorting
An oak-look benchtop runs the full length of the room, giving the household a generous surface for folding and sorting washing. The front-loading washer sits neatly beneath the bench beside the sink cupboard, and an open section underneath leaves room for laundry baskets. A stainless steel sink with a brushed brass gooseneck mixer sits under the window, replacing the old concrete tub with something far more practical.
Blush Pink Tiles and a Full-Height Mirror
Vertical stacked tiles in a soft blush pink run along the splashback and up to the overhead cabinets, bringing colour and personality to the room. They are easy to wipe clean and protect the walls around the sink and bench. A full-height mirror panel set into the splashback reflects light from the window and makes the narrow laundry feel noticeably wider.
